The cleanest signal in today's FX tape is a synchronized Asian rally. USD/JPY to 158.22, USD/KRW to 1,327.1 and USD/CNY to 6.679 all firmed against the dollar — yen, won and yuan strengthening in step, not the divergent moves of recent sessions.

The euro rose too, with EUR/USD at 1.123 and EUR/CNY at 7.499, forcing European refiners to recompute both crude import and energy costs. Broad non-US currency strength lines up with a softer dollar index.

For the SNSUC re-export book the direct read is simple: priced in dollars, the seven grades look cheaper once converted into yuan, yen or won. The same ESPO cargo converts at 6.679 rather than last month's 6.70-plus, saving a slice; downstream buyers settling in won or yen see their local-currency cost fall as well.

North-East Asian refiners must redo their multi-currency books. A landed price quoted on a single dollar basis now has to fold in a stronger yuan, won and yen separately, and that reshuffles which buyer wins any given cargo.
