Base oil is the lubricant feedstock we watch closest among SNSUC's thirteen categories. The two viscosity grades, SN150 and SN500, price their import parity off Brent and the yuan exchange rate: Brent tonight at 110.194 dollars per barrel and USD/CNY at 6.6675, with a firm yuan pulling the dollar-denominated landed cost down.

For the buyer, every 100-pip firming of the yuan shaves a bit over one yuan off the landed-and-dutied cost of a tonne of SN500. Small per tonne, but it adds up to real margin on a hundred-tonne trial.

The Botavia Energy SN150/SN500 100 MT trial we are running to Long Beach is the first step in opening a lubricant-trade line with a US buyer. The volume is small, but it tests whether the bill-of-lading verification, title confirmation and dollar settlement chain runs clean.

This base-oil trade shares its base layer with crude transshipment: SHA-256 bill-of-lading fingerprints, batch-level PCF carbon data and bonded warehouse-receipt pledging. Once the trial clears, the scale and frequency of term volumes get easier to lay out.
