In today's FX session the euro was the only major currency on a clear downtrend: EUR/CNY closed at 7.4940, down 1.51% on the day, and EUR/USD at 1.1229, down 0.47%. By contrast USD/JPY ended at 157.96 (-0.08%, yen firmer) and USD/KRW at 1326.95 (+0.05%, won marginally weaker), so Asian currencies and the euro moved in opposite directions.

A meaningful share of SNSUC's transfer flow is priced in euros, with European buyers and suppliers. A weaker euro directly compresses the RMB-denominated landed value: the same cargo of Basrah Light converts to roughly 1.5% less CNY than a week ago, which passively lifts book gross margin, while the bank credit line booked in EUR also steps down.

In practice, routing through CIPS direct euro clearing collapses the EUR to USD to CNY chain into a single EUR to CNY leg, removing the dollar intermediary's spread and transit time. Unpriced euro exposure can be capped with NDFs so a further slide before month-end reconciliation does not eat the spread.

Operator note: do not quote euro contracts through a dollar leg; book the position directly in EUR/CNY. For signed-but-undelivered euro term deals, run a re-price this week rather than discovering the value shrinkage at document presentation.
